Shell and Tube

Since 1908 Sterling Thermal Technology has specialised in an extensive range of custom-built heat exchangers for a wide variety of applications for many industries, worldwide.

In-house design engineers make use of the most advanced thermal and mechanical design techniques including thermal modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A comprehensive set of tools for the complete mechanical design and/or rating of shell and tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels is utilised in order to optimise the design of most shell & tube heat exchangers.

Codes of construction – all international design codes will be considered, but generally the mechanical design, methods of construction, testing and inspection are based on the Standards of Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association (TEMA). Typically these standards are used in conjunction with ASME VIII which relates specifically to pressure vessel design.

Our materials experience ranges from, amongst others, Carbon and Stainless Steel, Copper and Nickel Alloys, Hastelloy, Inconel and Titanium.

In addition to design and manufacture of new units we offer complete replacement units, tube bundles, nests or stacks. Our Shell and Tube service includes re-tube and refurbishment of existing equipment.

Short-notice availability of tube and plate materials and 24 hour working allows for a rapid response to breakdown situations.
