We have an opportunity for an organised individual with manufacturing background to join our Engineering Team.

The role

The CAD Technician is responsible for updating, converting, and modernising legacy technical drawings to meet current standards and project requirements. The role centres on interpreting older or outdated documentation and transforming it into accurate, well‑structured digital drawings using contemporary CAD tools. This work supports engineering, design, and production teams by ensuring that historical drawings are reliable, consistent, and ready for current use.

General Duties:

 

  • Always look after the company’s interests.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters relating to company business.
  • Ensure that company procedures are always followed.
  • Observe and promote safe working practices.

 

Specific Duties:

 

  • Remodel existing 2D or 3D drawings into SolidWorks.
  • Interpret legacy drawings, sketches, and handmarked revisions to produce accurate digital models.
  • Ensure all updated drawings comply with current company standards, industry regulations, and drawing conventions.
  • Correct errors, inconsistencies, or missing information in old drawings using engineering judgement and guidance from senior staff.
  • Maintain organised drawing files, revision histories, and documentation records.
  • Apply standard templates, layers, naming conventions, and formatting rules to all remodelled drawings.
  • Prepare updated drawings for issue, including checking dimensions, tolerances, and annotations.
  • Support continuous improvement of drawing libraries and digital standards.
  • Ensure proper revision control and document lifecycle management within PDM.
