This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing operations team, as Senior Applications Engineer. 

The role

Our expert Sterling TT engineering team are responsible for designing bespoke (new or replacement) heat exchange solutions for demanding and critical applications.   

Working closely with our senior engineers, you will complete mechanical designs to high standards. Delivering on our clients requirements for performance, quality and costs.

  • Director of Engineering.
  • Commercial, Finance, Engineering and Operations Teams.

What you will need to succeed

Essential attributes

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High resilience and adaptability to deal with our clients requirements. 
  • High levels of personal integrity.

Key skills required 

  • Minimum of a technical education degree relevant Engineering subject.
  • Ideally Chartered status or currently working towards Chartership.
  • A proven track record in working with commercial codes such as Aspen, HTRI or any other tool.
  • Proven track record in designing ABC, Steam heaters, S&T hexs or any other heat exchange technology.
  • Experience of working with ASME VIII and other pressure vessel codes.
  • A proven track record in mentoring, leading and developing a team.

Your responsibilities

  • To complete thermal designs to high standards meeting our client’s requirements included in heat exchanger specifications.
  • To complete mechanical designs or to work with a mechanical engineer to obtain optimal designs.
  • To communicate with our Procurement and potential suppliers achieving highly competitive material cost.
  • To ensure that appropriate internal and external resources are accessed to optimise project delivery.
  • To communicate with potential clients when/if required.
  • To assist other departments when/if required.
  • To set training and mentor in areas of expertise for less experience staff.
