Women in Energy: She Powers the Energy Transition
Last week, colleagues Rafaela J. and Yemisi Oniru Giwa M.A, M.Sc, proudly represented Sterling Thermal Technology Ltd at the EIC (Energy Industries Council) event, “Women in Energy: She Powers the Energy Transition,” hosted at the Arup Building in Edinburgh.
It was an inspiring and thought-provoking afternoon, bringing together voices from across the energy sector to explore the vital role women play in driving the transition to a more sustainable future.
The event opened with an engaging introduction from Katie Berry, highlighting Arup’s ongoing commitment to supporting and empowering women across its organisation. This set the tone for a series of insightful discussions focused on career development, representation, and the evolving opportunities within the industry.
A standout moment was hearing from Katharine Descamps, who shared her personal career journey with honesty and authenticity—offering valuable reflections on the importance of sponsorship, resilience, and balancing professional growth with family life.
The panel discussion that followed brought together a diverse group of industry leaders, sparking meaningful conversations and encouraging active participation from the audience. The atmosphere throughout was one of collaboration, openness, and shared ambition for a more inclusive energy sector.
