    How an industrial heat exchanger works

    The process begins with the fluids entering the heat exchanger through separate pathways, often called the hot and cold sides. Once inside the heat exchanger, the fluids remain separated by walls but come into proximity, allowing heat to transfer between them.

    These fluids can be gases, liquids, or a combination of both, depending on the specific application. For example, in an industrial chemical manufacturing process, one fluid might be a heated solvent while the other is a cool solvent or reactant solution.
